As of the 8th of June the DVLA has made a very significant change to the driving license system. Motorists will no longer receive the paper counterpart of their license, instead they will now need to produce a special temporary code as evidence of their prior driving convictions.
This change is of great importance to businesses who own and insure their staff to use company cars. Business owners will still need to produce evidence that their drivers do not have any convictions or had any accidents when attempting to make a claim or the insurers may not pay out.
How do you do this? We have produced a step by step guide on how drivers will need to share their driving license details on the DVLA website.
As an owner of a motor fleet it is your responsibility to ensure that all staff using your company cars share this driving license information, with regards to convictions and accidents, annually with you and that a record of this is maintained. How to Share Your Driving License Details
